Model 1816 U. S. Martial Flintlock Pistol manufactured by Simeon North, Middleton, Conn between 1817 and 1820. Large military pistol in original flint. Overall length, 15 1/4 inches with a 9 1/2 inch smoothbore round iron barrel marked U.S. and a P at the breech. Iron mounted. Lock plate marked S. North over an Eagle with Midln Con below. U on one side of the Eagle and S on the other. Walnut stock solid but has been varnished, retains inspectors oval on the left side. Iron has been cleaned and has some light surface patina. No pitting. Original ramrod with slotted iron tip. Shows little wear. See Flayderman 6A-107.
