English Military Flintlock Dragoon Pistol, lock inscribed Farmer, 1744
English Flintlock Dragoon pistol. Type by British forces during the French and Indian War and the Revolution. Lock inscribed Farmer 1744, GR and a broad arrow indicating government ownership. Barrel has British proofs and the initials I.V. and a star which is probably the barrel maker. OA length 19 1/2 inches with a 12 inch .60 caliber smooth bore. Walnut stock with brass mounts including a shield shaped escutcheon plate on the butt. Stock is solid with no cracks and has been lightly cleaned. Traces of store keepers mark and inspection stamps. Replaced ramrod. Has been used but well cared for. Excellent example of classic Revolutionary war weapon used by both sides. Very hard to find these days.
