Model 1777 French Charleville Cavalry Pistol
Model 1777 French cavalry pistol. Supplied by the French government and used by American forces during the Revolutionary War. Manufactured in the Charleville Arsenal in France and engraved "Charleville" on the brass frame. Inspectors mark above the frizzen spring on the frame has the number 80 signifying a manufacture date of 1780, which means it could have been used here by the American Forces. There is also a faint 80 on the barrel. Missing belt hook. Brass frame has wear but markings are clear. Original flint. Barrel has been cleaned but shows patina. Wood has original finish with minor dents and nicks from use. No cracks. Mechanically excellent. Hammer screw is a replacement. An excellent example of a American Revolutionary War pistol.
