American percussion lock dueling pistol by William Robertson of Philadelphia, Pa. Circa 1850. Back action lock signed "Robertson". 11 inch octagonal .56 caliber smooth bore barrel signed "Philadelphia". Striped maple stock with gilded brass mounts. Spurred trigger guard has an engraved pineapple finial similar to decorations on Philadelphia Derringers. Has a set trigger. Overall length 18 inches. Stock has original varnish scratches and dents from age. Small crack at rear side screw. Barrel and lock have an even brown patina. Action works. A good example of a rare American Dueler.
