Sharps 4A .32 cal Pepperbox belonged to Lt. Harrison P. Ballard, 12th Wisconsin Infantry

Sharps 4A birds-head grip iron-framed 4 shot .32 caliber long rim fire pepperbox pistol marked Sharps Patent Jan 25 1859.  2 1/2 inch barrel slide forward to load.  Walnut grips.  Gun belonged to Lt. Harrison P. Ballard, 12t Wisconsin Infantry.  He enlisted as a Corporal on 9/6/1861 and was mustered out on 7/16/1865.  Captured by the Confederates and was paroled from Camp Rough and Ready in Georgia in Sept 1864.  Regiment fought at Vicksburg, Jackson, Kennesaw Mountain and numerous other engagements.  Initials "HPB" stamped on both sides of the breech and "12 Wis." on the wood grips.  Grey finish with no corrosion.  Works fine.  Day Book and Pension records included.  Fladerman 5F 087.
